Coming back from Sainsburys by taxi (with the last of my Christmas groceries Thank goodness
) the lovely driver pointed out how many local accidents there were this morning, and how he was taking me "the only way home".
I looked out the window to see traffic at a standstill in most every direction. Don't get me wrong, driving lessons are at the top of my 'to do' list for 2008, but it seems to me like this nation so often forgets to leave the car at home.
The sun was shining and it was quite mild. I'm sure many of these bored looking drivers could have been walking where they were going.
I love the feeling of the sun on my face and the wind too (I just wrap up warmer). Knowing that I have got where I'm going under my own steam really makes me glad. I'm sure there will come a time (when I can drive) when my first thought would be to jump in the car instead of taking a walk, but I hope that it doesn't happen for a good long time yet.
I may have callouses on my feet, but they remind me how lucky I am to be fit and healthy and have the strength to get around.

Yeah - keep it going, happy.
I've taken to using my pedal bike whenever I can, and it certainly gives you that nice smug feeling!
