This can be so much fun. It's a form of entertainment that is so easily brushed aside with so many modern ways to amuse us. As a child it was always great getting out Monopoly, Cluedo and all sorts of other games like Mousetrap. As you get a bit older there doesn't seem to be the time for frivolity.
I'm gonna make time. Last night, with the TV switched off we had a good laugh for 4 hours. Bring back some of the old fashioned ways!

We went out and bought a load of games at car boot sales - some hadn't even been touched. We're looking forward to those Christmas nights of playing games (as long as the boys don't wake up). Next year Tom'll be old enough to join in which will be even better. I'm still waiting for my husband to beat me at Trivial pursuit - even if he does cheat at Monopoly. In my house we never had the TV on on Christmas day and it will be like that for my little ones too.

Trivial pursuit? There's a blast from the past. I was never any good at it. Hubby has a very retentive memory so I would lose this too! Might have a look in Argos and see what else they've got!

Yes. As a kid we used to spend sunday nights playing board games and cards. My dad even got a little cup that we could put a roll of honour in and each week the winner of whichever game we played got to be put on the scroll. Happy days!
